Although the city has completed the Southwest Neighborhood Plan, it is still possible for residents to become involved in implementing the proposed changes and allocating the funding that will be coming from the city's Community Development Block Grant program.
The city Planning Department invites neighborhood residents to an open house from 10:30 a.m. until noon on Saturday at Elver Park Shelter No. 2. Spanish and Hmong translation will be provided. read more »

If you've been in Lucy Lincoln Heistand Park since May 19, you've probably noticed something new: our community gardens. Seventeen families are tending garden plots ranging from 10'x20' to 20'x60'. Falk Elementary School has a plot too. Gardeners can be seen hoeing, watering, and visiting with each other every day, especially in the early morning and early evening. read more »

Mid-West Family Broadcasting is the new sponsor of the Fourth of July fireworks display in Elver Park, and expects to be the sponsor of the show beyond 2007.
Jolene Neis, chief financial officer for the broadcasting company that operates eight Madison-area radio stations, said Mid-West has a one-year contract with Madison to put on the show this year with the "right of first refusal" for next year. read more »

After a vigorous effort to get the Madison City Council to vote on his "impartial elections" ordinance Tuesday, Ald. Zach Brandon agreed to a one-month examination of the legislation by the city's Election Advisory Committee.
Brandon is trying to block those with clear political ties from working in the city clerk's office in any capacity. read more »
