A "much beloved" library assistant at Cherokee Middle School was killed while walking across Cherokee Drive toward the school Monday morning, authorities said.

Becky Sue Buchmann, 48, of Oregon, was not doing anything out of the ordinary when she parked across the street from the school on Cherokee Drive, then cut across the grassy median as she walked toward the school's front doors around 7:13 a.m., Superintendent Art Rainwater said.  read more »

Midvale Heights Gets City Grant for Neighborhood Plan

Great news! The City of Madison has awarded Midvale Heights $20,000 to support our preparation of a neighborhood plan to cover the next five to 10 years. Our grant proposal, authored by our planning chair, Charlie Quagliana, received the highest score of more than two dozen proposal submissions. In response to city staff shortages, we have been asked to submit one final report with Westmorland, which is also working on a plan, but the planning effort for Midvale Heights should operate fairly independently.  read more »
