Retiring Midvale Elementary Teacher Mary Malloy looks back fondly on her career in education

Centro Hispano will celebrate its annual Fiesta Hispana Saturday, June 22, from 11:30 to 8 p.m. in the space outside of Centro’s building at 810 W. Badger Rd.

The event will feature local Latino bands, food, children’s activities, artisan crafts and community-information tables.

Madison will be transformed into an outdoor concert venue Friday with approximately 270 musical groups performing throughout the city on the longest day of the summer.

Make Music Madison is a “free, public celebration of music all across Madison” on June 21, according to its website.

Michael Rothschild, the Madison resident who spearheaded the event, got the idea from his nephew, who started Make Music New York after witnessing Paris’ summer solstice event.

Around 30 people attended a public hearing the evening of Wednesday, April 10 to weigh in on possible changes to Madison bus routes.

Most attendees focused on the proposed changes to bus routes 14 and 15 at Sheboygan Avenue on the west side, but others had suggestions for routes 9, 10 and 18, among others.
