Community Shares December Heroes connect families with health benefits, staff OutReach center
Brett Eby, ABC For Health
An undergrad at UW-Madison, Brett Eby volunteers weekly at ABC for Health. He assists the advocates and attorneys at ABC for Health as they help underserved families navigate health care and coverage. Brett says it's exhausting, but also very rewarding, to work hard for people's rights—and he plans to continue social justice causes after graduation.

Jim Schoonhoven, OutReach
OutReach, Madison's LGBT center, recognizes Jim Schoonhoven for his volunteering at the walk-in center, staffing the phone, giving talks through the Speakers' Bureau, and offering peer counseling to clients needing support. He is more than an empathetic and energetic volunteer, he's a superstar for his willingness to fill in at a moment's notice.
