It's apple picking season!

Fall in Wisconsin means three things: the Packers, changing leaves, and apple picking!

One of many apple-picking farms around Madison, Appleberry Farm in Cross Plains offers customers a chance to pick produce straight from its source. The farm has been active since 1975 and is currently operated by David Wildes and family.

During the fall season, the farm offers heirloom apples, pumpkins, cider, and locally sourced apple brats and donuts.

Wildes noted that visits to the farm are an interactive way to learn about the land. Hayride tours available, and teach participants about the workings of the orchard.

“We’re very focused on education," he said. "We talk about the pollination of bees and how we grow the apples year round. Over a thousand kids come here every year for school tours.”

Appleberry Farm is located at 8079 Maurer Road, Cross Plains. Visitors can stop by Monday through Thursday from 9am-12pm, or Friday through Sunday from 9am-5pm. For more information, visit www.theappleberryfarm.com.
