City Government
The city council approved the creation of a committee to study the site of the soon-to-be-former Oscar Meyer plant. Soglin hopes to achieve a two percent raise in city taxes for the average home in 2018. The development committee for the Madison Public Market is moving forward with a tentative design. The city council approved the creation of a city council chief of staff position. Madison’s forgivable home loan program will end this year.
Schools
Cherokee Middle School’s yearbook will be reprinted to take out slurs and antisemitic material. Local fourth graders spread kindness and cheer via an end-of-the-semester art project.
