Government

After the primary, Mayor Paul Soglin and Ald. Scott Resnick will advance to the April 7 general election. A proposed .75 percent pay raise for some city workers has support from Mayor Paul Soglin and City Council. The Cap Times wrote about the use of body cameras, which could be tested by Madison police officers as early as this summer. Police Chief Mike Koval discussed his first year on the job with Madison Magazine. The Dane County Board wants a slow, gradual renovation to the Dane County Jail.

Businesses

Some 40 Madison-area office buildings have been put up for sale, which could have major implications for the business rental market in the region. A children’s store owner in Monona who is asking patrons not to bring their unvaccinated children to her store during a measles outbreak. Uber, the ride-sharing company, is asking to have its municipal case moved to the federal courts. The Campus Inn, a 72-room hotel on Langdon Street, is being renovated by new owners and is set to open this spring under a new name--The Graduate Madison. The city’s first meadery (maker of honey wines) opened on East Washington Avenue. Epic Systems plans to open an app store.
