Last Saturday, Capitol Square bustled with more activity than usual, as thousands of Madisonians gathered to not only browse the Farmer’s Market, but also explore Safety Saturday, an event aimed at educating local residents about the importance of putting safety first.
Throughout the morning, over 25 community organizations working in collaboration with the Madison Fire Department spread across the south side of the capitol to provide bike, fire and personal safety information to all ages.
First started over a decade ago, the event featured fire trucks, safety demonstrations, hands-on activities and family fun. A highlight of the event, especially with young kids, was an appearance from UW Health’s Med Life helicopter which landed on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
