Diversity among staff has become a priority for the Madison Metropolitan School District to meet the needs of their diverse student body.  The Urban League of Greater Madison hosted a recruitment event for Madison Metropolitan School District Feb. 19 to help fill open faculty positions and promote diversity within the district.

UPDATE: Dr. Jennifer Cheatham has been offered the position of Madison Metropolitan School District Superintendent.

After an hour spent answering audience questions Thursday, Feb. 7, the sole candidate for superintendent of the Madison Metropolitan School District gained some of her audience’s confidence but left other audience members with a desire for more details.

Community members questioned Madison Metropolitan School District superintendent candidate Jennifer Cheatham about her plans to bridge the achievement gap during a public forum late afternoon on Thursday, Feb 7. Other questions ranged from her view of charter schools to her past relationships with teachers’ unions and the results of her previous work.
