The Frozen Assets Festival, an annual event hosted by the Clean Lakes Alliance, took place Friday Feb. 5th through Sunday Feb. 7th at the Edgewater Hotel.

The festival was a chance to enjoy what Madison’s lakes have to offer in the winter season. Snowshoeing, sleigh rides, ice fishing demonstrations and hockey or skating on the lake were among the available free activities.

Guests also had the chance to watch a speed skating demonstration from Olympic champion and Wisconsin native Casey FitzRandolph and a figure skating show by various local skaters.

Adam Sodersten, director of marketing and development for the Clean Lakes Alliance said that by Saturday afternoon he guessed more than 3,000 people had come through for the winter fun.

Those in attendance helped raise money and awareness for the Clean Lakes Alliance, which hopes to reduce phosphorus by at least 50 percent in the Yahara Watershed by the year 2025.

“Our great sponsors have supported us, it’s just a great event all around, everybody benefits,” Sodersten said.
