Community Shares recognizes two volunteers each month
Community Shares, a partner of Madison Commons, recognizes two volunteers each month. The volunteers come from Community Shares' member groups and are selected for their service to the community and to community issues.
Kate Schulte, Sierra Club-John Muir Chapter
Kate Schulte has been an active Sierra Club member and volunteer for ten years. She is known as a selfless activist who is always willing to come to the rescue whatever the task, whether that’s stuffing envelopes, serving on a committee, or hopping on a cross-country bus to represent the chapter at a march or rally.
For more information about the Sierra Club-John Muir Chapter or to volunteer, visit www.sierraclub.org/wisconsin or call 608-256-0565.
Joanne Brown, Wisconsin Council on Children and Families
Since early 2015, Joanne Brown has volunteered for the Wisconsin Budget Project, an initiative of the Wisconsin Council on Children and Families (WCCF). Her dedication and broad set of skills expanded the Budget Project’s capacity to monitor and analyze state policy issues affecting low- and moderate-income Wisconsinites. When not volunteering at WCCF, Joanne also donates time to the UW Arboretum.
For more information about the Wisconsin Council on Children and Families or to volunteer, visit www.wccf.org or call 608-284-0580.

Welcome to the Madison Commons, a website designed to provide news and information about all of Madison's neighborhoods and a crossroads for the discussion of community issues. The name comes from the idea of a village commons, a place for news, talk, debate, and some entertainment, too, that's open to everyone.
