Young intelligent people with potential and promise, in need of more opportunity, trapped in the day-to-day struggles of racial and class oppression, are often left at the margins of society.

“Keep going, you’re doing great. Don’t give up!”

These are the words of 5th grader Holly Kurian, who is cheering on her friends from the sidelines of a Girls on the Run practice on a beautiful sunny day at Randall Elementary School. Kurian is a runner with Girls on the Run, a program that builds self-confidence and leadership skills in young women. She enjoys every minute of it.

The Madison Radicals finished their first season with a record of 13-3, and have earned a home game in the American Ultimate Disc League playoffs.

The Radicals host the Indianapolis AlleyCats at Breese Stevens Field in Madison on July 27 at 12:00 p.m.

It will be Madison's first game in nearly two weeks, when the Radicals closed the regular season with a 25-23 win over the AlleyCats. The team overcame the loss of a player to a broken foot and high temperatures in that game.
