Sikh worshipers dine together each Sunday

Sunday represents a special time for many American families, cultures, and religions. At their temple, a gurdwara, in Middleton, Wis., the Sikh community gathers at 1 p.m. every Sunday for langar.

Madison School Board debates keeping Dual Language Immersion at Chavez Elementary

UPDATE: On March 18 the MMSD School Board voted to end the DLI program at Chavez Elementary.

Parents still had questions as they filed out of the March 4 Madison School Board committee meeting held in the Doyle Administration Building’s McDaniels Auditorium.

The topic before the Student Achievement and Performance Monitoring Committee was whether to continue the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program at Chavez Elementary School. One of the committee’s concerns was the program’s lack of native Spanish-speaking students.

Urban League helps recruit diverse staff for MMSD

Diversity among staff has become a priority for the Madison Metropolitan School District to meet the needs of their diverse student body. The Urban League of Greater Madison hosted a recruitment event for Madison Metropolitan School District Feb. 19 to help fill open faculty positions and promote diversity within the district.
