Despite rain that canceled many of the Atwood Urban Forest Fest’s events, a small group of neighbors, churchgoers and environmental advocates showcased objects made from urban wood Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church on Winnebago Street.

After years of hosting successful club and college ultimate frisbee teams, Madison is now is home to a professional team: the Madison Radicals.

Centro Hispano will celebrate its annual Fiesta Hispana Saturday, June 22, from 11:30 to 8 p.m. in the space outside of Centro’s building at 810 W. Badger Rd.

The event will feature local Latino bands, food, children’s activities, artisan crafts and community-information tables.

Madison will be transformed into an outdoor concert venue Friday with approximately 270 musical groups performing throughout the city on the longest day of the summer.

Make Music Madison is a “free, public celebration of music all across Madison” on June 21, according to its website.

Michael Rothschild, the Madison resident who spearheaded the event, got the idea from his nephew, who started Make Music New York after witnessing Paris’ summer solstice event.

As Penn Park fills with tents, balloons and food stands on Saturday, crowds from the south side of Madison slowly populate the grassy fields to celebrate Juneteenth Day.

Juneteenth Day is a celebration of the emancipation of African Americans following the Civil War, but it is also a celebration of community, friendship and diversity.

Joslynne Schneider has been babysitting eight-year-old Will for a week. Each morning, after Will’s mother leaves for work, and after he has spent quality time with his Power Rangers, Joslynne asks him what he wants to do. Will’s response is usually the same: go to the library.

Although the skies were gray during Madison's fifth Ride the Drive on Sunday, the turnout was good, with local vendors and non-profits lining Capitol Square.

Riders were able to service and register their bikes at the City of Madison Traffic's engineering and registry tent or learn about the Madison Parks Department at their booth.

105.5 Triple MMM hosted live music from local artists A Royal Clark, Crash the Lights, Amberstein and The Earthlings.
